Dye! Dye! My Darling!

My Picasso Shirt
Flowers on my Shoulders
Today’s piece began as a dingy white dress/coverup thing.
It's not as pristine as it looks in the pic, I promise.
With its discolored pits (ewwwwwwww!) and general not-quite-whiteness, this guy was in need of some serious attention.  I could have just bleached the bejeezus out of it, but decided to experiment a little instead!
Dye Bath Time!

I’ve never dyed anything before in my life.  I’ve always assumed it was a tedious and messy process.  However, this coverup/dress thing was a freebie, so I figured I’d give it a go!

First, I tied the dress into a knot at the middle.

Tie it.

Then, I just followed the instructions on the box of Navy Blue Rit dye!  Easy peasy!

Dye it.

I left the dress in the dye bath for about 10 minutes, hoping for a pastel bluish hue.  Then I rinsed and rinsed and rinsed.

Rinsey Rinsey!

After I had rinsed out all the excess dye, I hand-washed my dress and tossed it in the dryer with a towel.

I was happy with how my first ever dye job went.  The color ended up being more purpley than blue, but that really didn’t bug me.  Now I have a great coverup for the beach!  I tossed  my new coverup over my bikini and headed to Art Bar for the Mr. B’s Goodtime Karaoke Explosion Cabana Night.  :)

Ready for a late-night pool party!

It's Bob!

I'm digging her sparkly top!
