Today, I needed something pretty to wear for an arts magazine launch party. I chose this:
That print is awesome sauce! :)
Of course, the arts community would probably question my taste if I wore this $1 thrift store find as-is. :)
Luckily, this transformation wouldn’t take much time at all! :)
First off, I removed those shoulder pads and the sleeves.
These will make some super-funky cat toys for the shelter kitties! :)

I used some of the fabric from one of the sleeves to make a teeny tiny sash.

Now for the easy/fun part! First, take your now-sleeveless dress and tuck the outside parts under, and tuck the neckline into a V. You actually don’t want to sew this. If you do, it’ll look weird.
Tuck and Tuck!
Now, take that little sash and use it to tie the shoulders together in the back.
Tie it!
Now I have a super-easy faux halter dress! :)

I wore my cute new dress to the launch party for Jasper Magazine, Columbia’s new arts magazine! :) I have a few friends who are affiliated with this awesome publication, and I’m really excited about it! :)

Wow, what a transformation! I’ve just stumbled on your blog and I’m seriously impressed with what you’ve done with some frankly quite hideous dresses! They look fab once you’ve finished with them. It makes me want to go and raid my local op shop (thrift store) to pick up all those ugly, enormous dresses that I’ve thought have a cute print. If only I had the skills to create something lovely from them!
My hat’s off to you. Great job. You certainly have a knack at this refashioning skill. Keep creating. I can’t wait to see what is next.
