You’ve waited with bated breath for the thrilling conclusion of…
For my final trick, I chopped off the top halter section of my $1 dress’ most recent incarnation!

Then, I took that raw edge and pinned it…

…followed by a quick bit of whirrrrrring!

Time for a little role reversal! I turned my dress upside down, so my newly-stitched edge was the new bottom! Then, I grabbed a safety pin and pinned my new shoulder down from the inside so it wouldn’t show.
I was feeling a little ornamental, so I took an orphan earring and attached it to my new shoulder as well for a bit of pizzazz!
After tying on the original belt/sash thing, I was left with this saucy cocktail dress!

I wore my new frock to a few fun events around town where I ran into some terrific people! :)

I even shared a drink with this handsome gent who managed to keep me and my friend Erin alive on a recent kayaking trip! You can read about our little adventure right here.

So…that’s the end of One Dress, Three Ways!
Buuuut…I wanna know which one was your favorite!
Was it Dress 1, Dress 2, or Dress 3????
Leave your answer in the comments section and let your voice be heard! :)
Cheers!
I really liked #2… but then I saw your 3rd rendition and it became my favorite. I love a good one-should dress!
#3 is the best. What do you do with all of your creations?
I mean, I’m super opinionated about things I like (and don’t like) but I seriously CANNOT pick which one is my favorite. Don’t make me do it!
Dress one!
I liked dress 2. Dress one was way too much fabric and dress 3 left nothing to the imagination. :) Love your blog!!!
Dress number 3! So cute.
I loved Dress #2. You are an artist with scissors and thread!
Genius! Shame they’re not reversible but I like three the best!
All are cute, but #3 is my favorite.
Excellent! Love the creativity! You are inspiring which helps to free others to experiment and be bold. Thank you.
Loved #2. You look fabulous in each of them!
#2 the best.
#3 is my fav!
Dress #2!! Loved how you used the collar!! Creative!!
I have to say that they all were pretty nice but dress #3 is my favorite!! (I wish I lived closer so that I could come to the Maker Event!!) If you ever come to Wisconsin or upper part of Illinois please make sure to let a follower know, I want very badly to attend a workshop of yours.
Dress 2. I loved the way you made the halter from the neckline. Ingenious!
Love, love, LOVE your blog! Always so fun and inspirational! Thanks for putting cool stuff on the internets :)
I’m all about the SAUCY! #3 rocks!!!
Number 3 – a little Roman toga action going on in that one. Plus it just looks so summery and fun with the matching sandals.
all 3 were great. but number 3 is my fave. you are so very talented. thanks.
Dress 2. I really liked the neckline. Dress 3 is so short, I wondered how you kept it from creeping north the whole night!
#2 – so classy!
Dress #2 was my favorite, but I was surprised by how pretty #1 was as well.
I definitely loved #3. You are amazing!
All were really cute and creative …. But think I like the 3rd one best…. Very chic!
I liked number 2 the best. Halter dresses just so saucy! Love your blog-you inspire me to renew my acquaintance with my sewing machine.
Loved them all, but 3 was the winner winner chicken dinner!
#2 is my fav. Runner up is#3.
#2, although #3 was a close second! You are such an inspiration!
#2 too cute
I like them all but my favorite in order is # 2, #1 and then #3.
3
#2 is my favorite.
All of them are cute, but my fav is #3. I’m amazed at what you come up with, I can look thru your site for hours! I think my favorite is the faces you make in the beginning of each post with how horrible the outfit is!
Favorite.
Number 2 was definitely my favorite. Love the halter out of the neck switcheroo.
Number 2 is my favorite, but I like the fact that you got 3 looks from one original dress.
I like 3!
Fav is 3 for sure – looks great! And sexy ;)

Although it was hard to love one more than the others, number 3 was definitely my favorite. It is absolutely adorable!
Great job on all three of the dresses! They are all stunning!
Really a toss up, they are all great. My favorite would totally depend on what I was going to do in them. Dress one for a date, like dinner and the theater. Dress two for a cocktail on the patio or a summer wedding. Dress three for a night in a club!
I love a halter, so 2 is the winner for me!
Number 2 was my favorite!
#3…No Contest!!!
Dress number TWO! :)
The third one is TOTALLY my favorite!!!! You look amazing in it!
#2, love the halter top with bare shoulders. #1 would be my second choice.
I loved #2 the best. Summery but modest. I’m old so I don’t have a choice!
#3! I love the one shoulder look!
I prefer version #2 the best, but #3 looked great as well.
Love #3.
#3 is my favorite!
They all looked great. However, #3 was by far the most impressive to me!
The third is the best! You look beautiful!
#2 was my favorite.
#3, then #1, then #2. All three are beautiful!
#2 is my favorite for sure! Though they are all pretty awesome!
Dress two was super cute but I liked dress three the best! Great refashioning cutie pie!
Without a doubt…#3. This one just seem to suit your personality more.
This was fun! I hope you do it again!!
Melody
Dress 3!!!
I’m a sucker for 40’s glam which is what the 1st one reminds me of so it might be my favorite and its less effort, which to pull off in vintage is hard! I actually saw the third look coming out of Bourbon while you were headed in! Though it took a moment to reach my brain or I would have said hi;) Oh and I’m digging his shirt as well!!!
#3 for sure!
Two, totally
I think I love dress #3 the most, when I first saw how you clipped off the top edge, I thought you were going to turn it into a maxi skirt, though I see that you probably still could make it work that way now, for a “one dress, four ways” idea :) Just wondering what happened with all the extra fabric from the bottom, nee top, when you pinned the shoulder down with the safety pin, didn’t it gape on the one side??
One word, awesome!
Lauren
livinginaboxx
You’re so creative! #3 is my fave
Two
I love what you make out of those weird dresses, but seeing you easily chop off pieces off your last refasion I wonder if you actually wear your refashioned dresses more than once. Do you actually want to change your wardrobe substantially or do you just add to the pile of fast fashion waste?
I definitely wear ’em more than once, and then I give ’em to my friends when I’m done with ’em. :)
#3
I vote for dress #2!
#3 was my fav!!!
#3 !!!!
Dress 2! Love that neckline!
Dress 2 is my favorite!
#3 was my favorite but i did like #2 as well I love your stuff I just pulled a few thing from my closet that i haven’t worn in a long time and am using some of your idea’s to make them new again keep up the GREAT work :)
Definitely #3!
My favorite was dress number 1, but 2 and 3 were fantastic as well!
Number 3!! So Cute!
#3, definitely. :)
I love #3! It’s a great look for summer.
I liked #2 the best. The halter was unique! I want to find a dress that I could do the same! All of your creations are wonderful!
Finally! I can’t get through my day without seeing one of your refashions :) I really like all of them. I think #3 should have been a tad longer but other than that all fantastic.
Question: on dress #3 do you have the seam that used to be the waist (belt casing) going around your thigh area? I can’t really tell by the photo.
#2 is my favorite.
Great color!
Answer: Yep! :) Thanks for voting. :)
LOVE #3!
#2 for sure!
Dress #2. #3 was a strong contender.
I loved dress 1. It just looked so elegant. I always look forward to recieving my emails from Refashionista. You have inspired me to remake items from my own closet.
I liked all of them, but #2 was my favorite.
Loved 3 but I thought it needed another inch on the skirt.
totally number three
Number 2 was definitely my favorite, but all 3 looked great on you!
Dress three I think is the most fun. The others are cool, but the third one screams ” I don’t take life too seriously, but I look seriously fabulous!”. Maybe that’s just how it seems to me :)
Dress two was definitely my fave but guuuuuurl you rocked number three fo realz.
#3 gets my vote! It’s definitely YOU!
3 was my fav!
I love 2 because it would get worn all the time. But if you have the right place to wear it, I like 3 even better. Love the use of the orphan earring! Thanks for all the amazing ideas and inspiration.
I think it’s a toss up between #1 and #2 for me (although #3 is super cute).
I actually really loved number one on you.
The first was my favourite, I’d wear that a lot.
For you: definetely nr 3, I would unfortunately need the tent version )
Dress #2… Loved the halter.
Number 1! So simple and classy – and no sew! Even better. :)
Honestly, you knocked it out of the park all three times! It’s impossible to make that call.
#2
Dress 2, but they are all fab!
This is one of your best. Seriously loved all three!
I liked the 2nd dress the best! Great work!
Dress # 2; though #3 was a close second! Both were charming & clever!
even though i love halter top dresses, but i’ve gotta say my favorite one is definitely #3,, soooooooo pretty, and my favorite color too, looks smashing on you ;)
Dress no. 3 is definitely the best!!
Dress 2… they were all good, but Dress 2 was really clever and would probably have been more wearable in the long run if it still existed.
Each dress got cooler and more clever than the last, so I’ll have to vote for #3!
I just spent HOURS looking through all of your posts and I think you may have inspired me to keep my sewing machine and not sell it like I was planning. I love altering things but they never seem to turn out right. I think I just need more practice, though, so I won’t give up yet. Especially since just yesterday I was thinking about how I need to make all of my own clothes because I keep a very small (under 25 items) wardrobe and am particular about everything being mix and matchable, fit perfectly, be able to be worn different ways, etc.
:) Keep up the good work. I love the thrift store you went to that had the painted windows “Never buy new”.
#1
so elegant, so understated.
❤️
For me, dress 1, then 3, then 2. I love old Hollywood Glam. Love your blog!
Dress 3!!
I think the 3rd dress is the best of the 3. Wish I could sew like you. (sigh!)
Dress no. 2 was my favourite, until you made dress no. 3! :) Shazzaaam! Love it.
I love it ! #2 was really great, but this one is even better!!
Love the spunky shortness of Dress 3 but Dress 2 wins for me with the neckline! : )
Dress no.1, so clever …. or maybe dress no.3
Dress 2
Torn between #2 & #3. My husband liked #3! You are such an inspiration. Thanks for sharing.
You are brilliant as ever, but I have to say I fell in love with the #3… :)
I LOVE the creativity of turning the dress upside down!! But honestly, I like dress #1 the best. You’re awesome to even figure out ANY of them, let alone THREE!
They were all so cute, but I think that #2 was definitely my favorite! Great job refashioning!
xoxo,
Laura

Dress #3 is the best :)
Liked them all, but loved #2
Loved 2 but I have to agree 3 is it!
#3 for the win!!!amazing blog!!!
Loved loved loved dress 2 on you and in general!
Dress #2 :)
Dress #1 for me (fuller coverage), but for a tiny girl like you: definitely Dress #3! Good job.
I like #1 but I tend to always wear sleeves. I like the suggestion of 1940s style.
I just found your blog. Thanks for the inspiration! I have trouble imagining what I can do with a piece while I’m thrift shopping.
It was hard, but I will have to go with #2.
#3 is definitely my fave!
Dress #2
Number three is my favorite! It’s so CHIC!
3 is my favorite, but all 3 looks were great! :) (by the way, I’m a new reader of your blog…I love it! I can’t wait to see what else you come up with!
Dress #2 is my favorite. But all three look great on you!
Three is awesome
It’s so hard to choose! They are all fantastic! I think dress 1 would look best on me and I think dress 2 looks best on you followed closely by dress 3. So….all of them?
#3! You look stunning!
Definitely dress 3!!! Amazing. I just “discovered your great blog!!! Love it! Love you!
33333333!!
Definitely 2. Love the halter style!
dress 3 :) CHIC.
#3 is my fave! Love the pendant as alast touch!
Thanks! Gotta save those orphan earrings…never know when they’ll come in handy! :)
Wow. Thank you for showing me, a fat person, the best way to take away my resources. How about instead of taking fat peoples clothes, you go to your local fabric store and grab stuff there. That way, fat people can still wear those clothes! Fat people have such a hard time finding clothes that actually fit and then you go to a $1 thrift store where those people can actually afford it, and take it and use it for yourself. Stop taking resources form fat people.
This was a dress found at a thrift shop that literally no one was buying or wearing. Fabric is also prohibitively expensive. Instead of letting a piece of out-of-fashion clothing sit in a thrift shop for another year (before the thrift shop sees the need to throw it away to make more space), Jillian decided to repurpose it as she saw fit. As an also-fat person, I see no need to randomly diss someone for actually practicing one of the four Rs and not unnecessarily buying new material. We could both see fit to go to a thrift shop and repurpose old things to make something new.
Just found your blog. 3 is the best!
#3!
Eu gostei imensamente da versão número 3! Ficaste linda, e te super valorizou! :)
3
I liked both one and two, but two was my favorite. You looked great in all 3 :)
