Channeling Audrey: A Roman Holiday

Happy Valentine's Day!

Costumes are fun. Who says you can’t dress up for whatever movie you like, not just Rocky Horror Picture Show?

This was my rationale behind a last-minute decision to dress as Princess Ann for a viewing of Roman Holiday, one of my favorite films.

If you haven’t seen it, I hope you will soon. It’s a charming story about a Princess who plays hookie for a day to, for the first time in her life, do exactly what she want to do. Ms. Hepburn earned an Oscar for her performance.

Gregory Peck is quite dreamy in it as well. *sigh*

Here is what I wanted to recreate:

Looking swell, Ms. Hepburn!

I think I did an alright job!

Not to shabby!

I like to do whatever I please too, Ann!

The skirt is too short to be truly authentic, but I think it’s quite close! I felt lucky to have been able to pull a suitable costume together from my existing wardrobe without having to buy anything new. :)

While I’m certainly no Audrey, I think I did an alright job!

Does the black & white help?

My fellow old movie loving friend (and sewing buff), Dianne joined me for the event. :)

  1. I love this movie and I love Audrey Hepburn, and I think you actually do resemble her! And I also think your outfit was perfect, it was a nod to her without looking totally costumey. Well done, as always.

  2. Love the idea of dressing up for a movie and loooove you’re challenge for a daily refash! Your’e an inspiration to me and my dutch refashionista friends. Groetjes (greetings;)) from the Netherlands.

  3. My girlfriends and I dress up and do themed movie marathons about 3 or 4 times a year. We have done sci-fi, vampire, Johnny Depp, Jane Austen, and the like. I usually end up making a costume from scratch or hodge podge from thrift stores if I don’t have time. Sometimes we dress up in pajamas. Always fun to dress up!

  4. The little neck scarf does the trick! . Being the grammar nazi that I am I do feel compelled to point out that the comment should read “not too shabby” . Big difference between “too” and “to”. Of course you do know the difference and you were simply rushing things, ain’t that right?
