About

I want to be fashionable, but I don’t make the mad stacks of cash necessary to buy the fashions I see and love in expensive boutiques.  Rather than sit and mope about this, I’m getting creative!  It’s DIY time, folks!

With the help of my sewing machine, I am going to refashion 50 cent and $1 thrift store finds into awesome, custom-made works of art!  AND I’m going to show you how very easy it is!

Now, when I walk by those expensive boutiques I can scoff at those silly women paying oodles for something less creative than what I just refashioned!  Ha!

So…a recap of my reasons for becoming a ReFashionista:

1.  I don’t have a lot of money.  I love clothes, but would never be able to afford to buy the quality/style/sheer amount of attire I’m making for myself if I had to pay full retail price for it.

2.  It’s an environmentally friendly thing to do.  Recycling/Refashioning old clothes keeps them from just being tossed out.  Also, by buying old clothes instead of shopping for new stuff, I’m absolved of worrying about some poor little kid in some country I’ve never heard of (I should really get an atlas) slaving away for a bowl of rice to make a cute little dress for me.

3.  (and this is the biggie)  It’s FUN for me!  I love to sew!  I love thinking creatively!  I also love seeing the transformation from atrocious to awesome.

Now…let’s get to some bloggery!

Love what you’re doing. I have sooooooooo wanted to do something similar for years. No, I never told you about it but anyway…this is great!

This is fabulous! I think I shall hit you up for some custom outfit designs for me for a fee. Such great work! And, I need girlie things :)
