Day 144: Day Off Dress

I took today off from work to do some erranding so I’ll be ready for Thanksgiving weekend (can’t wait!) :).  I needed something comfy and cute to putter around in.  I went for this dress right here:

This is some heavyweight jersey!

Today was a delightful 76 degrees, so this turtleneck thing just wasn’t going to work out.  :/

It’s not you. It’s me.

I cut two slits in the skirt part of the dress, like so:

Ssssslit!

Now I have a perfect dress for a day spent driving around with the top down.  Sometimes I just love SC’s erratic weather!  🙂

Insta-Dress!

I promise I wore shoes today! 🙂

Cheers!  🙂

You are hilarious! Love your blog….I found you through the Refashion Co-op.

Thanks! Isn’t the Refashion Co-op awesome? 🙂 I need to post there more often. :/

You are a big inspiration for me. Hope you like my version!

Yours looks awesome! I love how you wear it off the shoulder! 🙂

Hi Jillian, WOW – Just found your blog yesterday and have been going through all your posts. You are such an inspiration and super creative. Plus, you write with a lot of humor and charm. I’ve been thoroughly enjoying your posts. I also sent my 14 year old daughter to your blog since she is really into sewing and fashion. She also is reading and getting inspired by you.

Now, because of you, I’m rethinking all the stuff in my giveaway pile that I was tossing because it is now too big on me. But some of it is really great, so I’m thinking of dyeing and refashioning a lot of it so I’ll have nice inexpensive clothes to wear on the way to a thinner me. I felt puzzled when I got to this dress. So you made the slits and then what? Did you stitch up below the slits to get rid of excess width in the skirt. That’s the only thing I can figure here, but you didn’t actually say that.

Cheers,
Sallee

Thanks so much! That’s amazing that your daughter is already a sewer at such a young age! 🙂 Wish I had learned earlier. I’m happy to see that refashioning is something you both enjoy and share. 🙂

I’m actually having a hard time remembering what I did with this one. I’m pretty sure I had to have stitched up the sides, but why the devil didn’t I show that if that’s what I did? Maybe there is excess material but it doesn’t look that bad, so I just left it. I honestly don’t know, and since I donate everything, I can’t look at it to tell you. Sorry to be confusing!
