Day 311: Identity Crisis Dress
When Revente’s Last Call handed over this skirt, I gasped…and not because it was hideous or frumpy or creepily stained. I gasped because it was really quite lovely! 🙂
At first I didn’t understand why RLC thought this was unsellable. Then I saw this:
This was a fairly big hole, but still an easy fix!
So…now that skirt is fixed and ready to go back, but I had other plans for it first! 🙂
All I did here was use the drawstring at the waist to make this skirt into a halter dress. This doesn’t always work with just any drawstring skirt, by the way. The reason this one worked so well is that the top is much more fitted than the bottom (look at the before pic again). 🙂
Cheers!

Gorgeous fabric, looks so good!
Thank you so much!
Insprired by you, I turned a long skirt into a halter dress using the existing sewn-in sash. Was wondering – does your hem line fall longer in the back because the front is “hiked up” now? If so, do you care? 🙂
I do this with a few of my skirts, my hem line does that too! Depending on the skirt, sometimes I prefer it, and sometimes I pull it up in the back and use the sash/belt to.keep it up. Then let the extra fabric in the back hang over the belt. 🙂
Couldn’t have said it better! 🙂
Thanks so much!
I love it!
