Day 57: Aloha Bolero & A Nana Giveaway! | ReFashionista

Day 57: Aloha Bolero & A Nana Giveaway!

Aloha from South Carolina! 🙂

Aloha!

I have to say, I love Hawaiian printed stuff.  Shirts, Dresses, Bags, whatever…I dig it.  It makes me feel like I’m miles away, sipping on an exotic beverage with an umbrella in it.  🙂

Sadly, this top is just too big, and not something I would ever wear, except maybe as a swimsuit coverup.  I decided to make it a bit more practical.

Chop!

Slice!

See where I’m going here?

I finished all of my raw edges, starting with the bottom.

Stitchin’ that new hem!

Then, I finished the sides!

Pin & Sew!

I pressed my new hems, and was all done!

Love those Kimono Sleeves!

Check out that wingspan!

Now for the exciting part, dear reader!  I have a fun Friday giveaway!  🙂

If you live in Columbia, SC you probably know about  Nana by Sally handmade handbags.  Each one is made by the delightful Sally Peek in her home studio.  No two Nana bags are the same.

I’m happy to say I own a couple of Nana Bags, and they are my favorites!  🙂  They’re ridiculously well-made and sturdy, and (best part) they’re completely unique!  🙂

I’m so happy to be able to offer you a Nana Giveaway, courtesy of Sally.

The giveaway is for a “Sylvia” Clutch (pictured below). This is a suuuuper-cute and very popular style.  They are sold for $80.

I liked the top before and after (but then I do spend a lot of time wandering around in swimwear during the summer)! Great colour too. The bags looks gorgeous…fingers crossed but think it would cost almost as much to mail to Spain as to buy one new! Lovely idea though…you are a very generous person 🙂

I love how you support so many other folks Jillian. Cute top too – nice refashion! The bag looks very cute too!

I love all of your thrifty reconstructions. In fact, they’ve inspired me to try a few of my own! I love how cheap, green, and creative the entire process is. 🙂

Thanks for the giveaway. I would love to sport that cute Nana clutch! It’s darling!

Thanks! I looooove Nana bags. I was so thrilled that Sally wanted to do a giveaway. It’ll be hard to see that clutch go.

Recently discovered your blog and love it! Very inspiring. I might never donate an item again without first trying to reconstruct it.

The clutch is adorable!

That top looks SO much better as a Bolero! I am going to attempt the long sleeve shirt wrappy thing again…hopefully it will work! 🙂

You can do it, Irene! 🙂

Love the bolero! Great job!

I love Hawaiian printed stuff, too and love what you did with that top!

Love your site! It inspires me to fix my clothes into something better before I buy new ones. 🙂

I love what you’ve done with the top, and the colour is gorgeous!

I have read your entire site and have been lurking for months!!!! Love your stuff, you have inspired me to finally get my sewing machine out of the box.

Beautiful clutch! I love the color of your new bolero, too. It looks great on you. Thanks for the chance to win! pe_mayfield(at)yahoo(dot)com

Love your blog. Super cute clutch! Thanks for the opportunity.

Love the tropical Hawaiian look! You have inspired me to start re-fashioning and I purchased some nice things at the Goodwill to play around with this weekend. I used to sew a lot but haven’t in a long time due to the cost of fabric and notions. This blog has given me back my “joy” in creating my wardrobe again.

Okay, maybe this will be the motivation to make my own blog…finally. You inspire me 😉 I love this outfit. Are those your khaki shorts you refashioned? 😀

And I commented on your facebook. That’s a super cute bag!!

Woo-hoo! Horay for giveaways! Everything is so beautiful, the clutch, your blog, the jacket, etc.

I love the kimono sleeves! Good job 🙂 I’m just a little obsessed with your blog…

I LOVE your projects. I have realized that I never have to buy new clothes again!!! We already shopped at thrift stores for clothing but refashioning has opened up lots of new ways to see those thrifted clothes. Thanks for the inspiration!!!

I <3 Jillian!! 🙂

I try to come by your blog and refashion co-op every day for more ideas. Its so much fun to see what other people see in existing pieces of clothing. Thanks for sharing your work with us. Since last time I commented I now am part of the re-fashion co-op posting under “sewing scientist.” Only one post so far, but I’ll try to post my “Hurricane Irene dress” later today or tomorrow.

Where i would normally stop, you look to see what else you can get out of a garment! I love it! Now how about all those strip scraps you have left over? a crazy quilt maybe?

Okay~Ready for this???!?!

I am now a follower of @nanabysally on fb and I left a comment. I was already a fan of yours on fb but I left a comment for good measure. I dusted off my twitter account, followed, and retweeted. I started following your blog AND I would love to win this clutch! The refashion today is fabulous–as usual! Thanks!

Love your refashioning! I’ve been inspired to dust off my sewing machine and relearn it all again. Btw….I’ve liked both refashionista and Nana on fb, and commented a few days back(nomospam4tiff@hotmail.com)

I love that bag.

And I love your refashions. I used to do it years ago but lost the knack. I am getting the urge to refashion again though 🙂
