Some days, I’m reminded of why I love living in the South. Especially on December days that somehow climb to 70+ degree temperatures. :)
Unfortunately, My wardrobe has already been swapped over to wintery things. Fortunately, I had this laying around!
As I hadn’t anticipated this warm spell, I only had a short time to complete this refashion.
I got to chopping!
One more chop!
And now that muumuu is much better off as a cute dress!
It got slightly cooler in the evening, so an extra layer became necessary.
Warm & Cozy!
I happily wore my new frock to a lovely birthday dinner for a good friend. :)
Happy Birthday, David! :)
Gotta have friends!
Today I woke up feeling really really off and awkward. It was a weird day. Then it became a sad day when I was reminded that this would be my friend Jonny’s birthday if he were still here. And writing an article entitled “Hey Ladies. This is Why You’re Still Single.” (I’m working on it, Alan. I’m working on it. You’ll get it today, I swear.) was a little tough to stomach when I’m so very clearly not an expert here. :/
It was time to take on the type of awkwardness I’m actually good at dealing with. The kind of awkward I can totally handle. The awkward I can fix. The awkward I kind of love.
I’m an awkward moment that somehow gained sentience.
*AWKWARD DANCE BREAK*
You’re looking at a handmade polyester dress that looks red to me, but is apparently actually orange? You tell me.
Anywho…It’s awkward. It doesn’t fit, and then there was this awkward bib thing that I didn’t quite understand:
Modesty bib? What?
The bib snapped out, so that was an easy fix, but I still needed to take on the fit (or rather lack thereof) of the dress.
First I pinned…
…then I stitched!
I decided I wasn’t in the mood for a dress at the last minute, so I chopped off the bottom part.
Check out my feet awkwardly hanging out…
I added a new hem to my new and rapidly-fraying raw edge…
Just a lil hem.
After a quick press, my new top was ready to hang out with some lovely friends!
My new top also loves wings!
<3 The Fosters!
Lovely Ladies! :)
Lovely Raspberry Beer!
A lovely gathering!
Awkward Cat Moment.
It’s okay Wolfie. We can be awkward together! :)
One of my favorite things about the holiday season is the White Elephant Christmas party my friends throw every year! As you all know by now, I love a good party, and adding a silly surprise element only makes it better!
Speaking of silly surprises, check out this heavily beshoulderpadded top I found for $1 (just assume I only spend $1 on any of my pre fashions, okay?) at a fave thrift shop!
I like that pleating on the front of this top, and that blue hue is lovely, but the rest? Meh!
I started chopping away!
Farewell, weird fluffy shoulder thing and sleeves!
My new top was missing a button, but I wasn’t too worried about that. I wouldn’t be needing any of them pretty soon.
I’ll just save you guys for later!
Whew! All that chopping is fun, but it left me with a bunch of tacky raw edges to take care of!
Next, I took in each side by about 2″.
I cut off my excess material, and now I have a fabulous vest/tunic hybrid thing that I can wear over a dress or over a top and pants!
I opted for a dress and tights!
I accessorized with a funky pin, a skinny belt, and a pair of brogues!
Of course my pal’s daughter, Ava makes the perfect accessory!
My present was wrapped with care. ;)
Mystery is exciting!!!!!!!!
…and Jacques seemed to like it as well!
I’m just a little scared…
But everyone’s gifts were quite special…
Jamie looooves My Fair Lady (on VHS)!
I’m definitely seeing a movie theme here…
This one is waaay too nicely wrapped!
This one is waaaay too practical.
This one is waaaay too literal!
I think the gift I received might just be the best one…
Gotta brush up on my Elvish! ;)
…although Ava wore it better. :/
Even Miley showed up! ;)
