Cathi’s Reader ReFash
When we talk about sustainable fashion, versatility comes up again and again. How can we buy less clothing? How can we need less clothing (other than by joining a nudist colony?). One option is to own garments that can can be worn in multiple ways.
That’s just one reason why I dig this refash by Cathi from Scratch and Stitch.
She began with an old flannel that used to belong to her dad.
The original flannel shirt was an XL men’s, so way too big for me. I removed the sleeves and collar; took in the torso; shortened the whole thing; adjusted the shoulders from mens to womens; added some “darts” to the bust; added pockets; and finished with bias tape. It’s my best refashion so far ๐
I LOVE how she made this piece reversible! The black is a perfect neutral, and the red plaid is totally on-trend. Combined, she basically has two great vests that will last for years to come!
You can check out Cathi’s detailed tutorial right here!
Awesome! ๐

Thank you for this idea. I have a big (too big) flannel shirt with a beautiful plaid that I love! Maybe a vest would work. I am not sure about the reversible thing. I wish she had shared pics. I will see if they are on her website.

this is a really nice looking vest. the sleeves can be made into a doggie coat.

Perfect for those flannel Friday’s. So cute. I love vests but not the typical fleece ones that fit like bags.

I’ve inherited a couple of flannels that my hubby outgrew…I was hoping for something like this. Thanks for the inspiration.

Love this refashion. I live in NE PA & the cold weather seems to last longer than the warmer months so I’m always looking for new warm ideas – great post! โ
