Oh hai! Welcome to my new place!

Of course this frock wasn’t without its issues.

It had a few weird stains on it that didn’t come out in the wash (more on that later), It’s obviously too big for me, and as temps have gotten nice & warm, I wasn’t feeling the sleeveage.

But isn’t that print fabulous?  And I really liked the neckline too!

To get started, I grabbed my seam ripper and started de-sleeving.

Byeeee!

Next, I closed up those raw edges…

And whirrrrrr!

Next, a bit of fitting was in order!  I was happy to see that those stubborn stains would no longer be an issue, as I’d be able to just sew them off.  ðŸ™‚

See? Soon they'll be a thing of the past!

Just a couple more whirrrrs, folks!

And that’s it!  My first refashion in over a month is now complete!

Yay!

I styled my new frock with an awesome bag I thrifted for $2.00, one of my many giant pairs of shades, a necklace that used to be my grandmother’s, and my comfy Sperrys.  ðŸ™‚

  6. Welcome back! You’ve been missed…
Cute dress, I really love it.

About a good creative job: Mine is not really creative but gives me the opportunity to do a lot of things I like – which also results in cutting back on my own projects because sometimes I feel like, well, I’ve already done some editing today, and fiddling with layouts and internet recherche…

  10. That stain looks like it could have been rust. I know it is gone now but next time you just need to put a bit of lemon juice on it and put it out in the sun and it should go a way. No worries on the break If life takes you in another direction let it, it took you here and you liked this, adventures are out there to be had. Have some.

  12. Ditto Huzzah! Except next time, can you just warn us? We’ve missed you, and been a bit worried, even though I had a feeling you were just getting your bearings 🙂 Dress looks fab of course. As a fellow thrift re-doer and amateur sewer, I would love to hear any specific tips about fabric, refitting, even mistakes we should try to avoid; besides the design changes you make. I love the nitty gritty! Welcome back friend!!

  19. I admit it, I WAS worried! I think your reasoning was very good and I am just happy you are doing well. It is great to hear that the new job is fun and you found a new place to live. The gang looks great and I’m happy warm weather is back. Our family is missing Columbia a lot right now, but Prague isn’t so bad! We will be home for summer at the end of June and plan to spend lots of time on Lake Murray.
Hopefully, we will run in to you at a thrift store or out and about. HAVE A GREAT WEEK!

If you blog once a day, or once a week, or once a month, or once a year, or never again it does not matter. You have already changed so many people’s lives. You created a link to many friends. You inspired all of us and we thank you.

The blog should be fun and not a chore. Enjoy life, you deserve it.

  24. Hey Jillian:

Welcome back & glad to hear that you like your real job.

Regarding stains in clothing, did you ever try a product call Awesome? You can find it at the Dollar Tree & it lives up to its name. Just spray it on the stain, rub it together a few times then wash & out comes the stains. Give it a try.

  27. Welcome back! It’s funny how people who don’t blog think it is this easy-peasy thing that takes no time at all but it actually takes up a lot of time in reality! And the worst is when people stop following because you don’t blog twice a day like some blogs can, but hey jeeze, if someone is going to tart paying me to do it then yeah, obviously I will blog more often. I guess what I am trying to say is take all the time you need, we will always be here (or at least I know I will!). Glad you are enjoying your new job, great refash! Also: That bag!!!! Amazing!
