Day 125: Skirt or Shirt?

If you do a Google image search on “Pillowcase Dress”, you’re going to get a lot of this:

Wipe that smile off your face, missy. This is not going to be today's refashion!

But if you Google “Debbie Harry Pillowcase Dress”, you’ll get something entirely different.  🙂

Now that's what I'm talking about! 🙂

I am a huge Blondie fan.  I have been since Junior High.  They are one of my favorite bands of all time!  🙂  I seem to remember (tangent alert!) the pillowcase dress being the original idea for the Plastic Letters album cover, but the photographer thought it was too weird, so it got scrapped.  Can anyone confirm this?

Anywho…it just so happens that I have a couple of pillowcases left over from the sheet set I used to make my Halloween Costume.  Time to get punked out for Karaoke night!  🙂

First, I cut a neck hole.  🙂

Snip!

But something was still missing…

Who needs arms?

I added a couple of slits on the side so my arms could come out and play.  🙂

Double Snip!

Now I have a dress Debbie would approve of.  🙂

Oh yeah!

As you can see, I decided to forgo the electrical tape for a gold braided belt.  🙂  I love how the points on the end of the pillowcase make my shoulders look pointy too!  🙂  This definitely isn’t anything I’d wear for a casual day out or to work, but for a fun night spent singing Blondie songs, my new dress is perfect!

See my awesome leather coat? Thrifted for $10 baby! 🙂
