Today’s refashion is very boring practical. 🙂 I had a pair of khakis that I loved for work, as they fit great and were really comfy. One day, I noticed a big stain on one of the legs. Despite my best efforts, I couldn’t get rid of it. 🙁

I’m thinking the blue stain is from an ICEE or some such blue slushy bevvie.
At first, I did what any woman with absolutely no self-respect would do. I’d wear my khakis, stain and all, and act genuinely surprised when anyone noticed the rather large blue spots (putting my Theatre degree to good use). Then, I’d make the conscious effort to not wear them around that group of people again. Eventually, I ran out of groups of people to wear my khakis around whilst feigning stain ignorance. Yes…this is sad.
There was only one thing to do.

Yup…these pants are about to lose their work appropriateness.
I folded the raw edges under twice and pinned them.

Then I ran them through my machine, after petting the rather cranky sewing machine security guard.

Okay…so I hemmed some pants into shorts. Big flippin’ deal, right?
But I still wanted a comfy top to hang out in, so I took one of my fella’s shirts that I’ve been promising to make into a short-sleeved shirt for ages.

I turned it around and tucked in the collar like so:

Then, I crossed the arms around the back, back to the front, and tied them together. 🙂

The back of the top ended up looking like this:

Oh yes…and here’s a look at those shorts!

I wore my totally refashioned (thank you very much) outfit to Starbucks, where I visited my good buddy, Jonny! 🙂

Jonny concocted a tasty Vanilla Bean Frap that was oh so very delish! 🙂

Cheers!
I’m reading through the year of refashion… The shorts stain looks like what happens when you put detergent in the washing machine after the clothes without water… Unless you use dyeless detergent. 😉 love the idea. I don’t shop much so lately I’ve been refashioning out of things I find at home… Sheets curtains runners valances etc!!
I totally have to try this sleeve tip, it would make a lot of shirts/tops more wearable.
Make shorts from old trousers is very nice and easy refashion to do. I wil try the same adventure this weekend. I like very much the outfit.
Marvelous! Adorable outfit.
Thank ya!
I’m a “tiny” bit larger as well. I’ve been wearing my hubby’s shirts for years belted with scarves. I love this idea. I am going to wear a ribbed tank underneath and see how that looks. And, I keep hesitating to say it cause I am going to sound like my 80 year old mother, but you are just absolutely the cutest thing ever! And, I love your refashions.
I think a tank underneath would look fine. 🙂 And thanks for the compliment! It’s so funny…when I was a teenager I loathed being called “cute”. Who wanted to be cute when the competition was stunning, sexy, and gorgeous? Since then, I’ve learned to take any compliments I can get! 😉
Love the line “feigning stain ignorance.” Classic.
Hehe…me being a slob is anything but classic! 🙂
Being a “erm” bigger girl, if I wore a shirt like that I´d look like a parcel that came undone in a fight with the postal service 🙂 You, on the other hand, look fantastic!
What about trying tying it more like this one? It’s a bit more forgiving on those days when I feel like hitting the Indian Buffet. 😉
Cute outfit – especially the no-sew top! I have a pile of men’s shirts I’ve been dying to do something with, and this is a great idea. Gonna try it soon, thanks!
Thanks! It’s super easy. Unfortunately, my fella owns mostly short-sleeved shirts, so I don’t get to have as much fun with this as I’d like.
I LOVE the no-sew mens tops! They look good and are very clever!
I expect to see you rockin’ one at karaoke soon. 😉
