Today’s piece started out as a perfectly fine Hippie Skirt.
But in case you haven’t noticed, I have a hard time wearing anything how it’s intended to be worn. π
I took this skirt and put in on my dress form, upside-down and inside-out. I pinned it where I wanted to new shoulders to be, and a bit further down each side to make peekaboo batwing sleeves. π
Next, I ran the pin parts through my machine to stitch them down.
Now I have a perfectly light and comfy dress to wear for this:
Whaddya think?
Here’s a close-up of those sleeves! π
I hope everyone is having a wonderful Labor Day weekend!
Cheers!

Love these upside down skirt dealies. These would be great for plus sizes too, for those bemoaning the lack of plus-friendly fashions or not being able to find pieces big enough to refashion. You can find pretty big broomstick skirts if you look.
LOVE THIS! What brand is that skirt from?
This is my favorite off all your refashions that I’ve seen so far! (I’ve been reading your blog backwards). π Thanks for all the inspiration.
Wow, love this makeover! This is too cute and the sleeves came out great.
Very clever and sooo creative. Would never have thought of doing this. Am now going to look in the wardrobe for all my skirts that could be turned upside down!
Absolutely! Change ’em up! I can just picture you in some cute skirt dresses in Spain! π
This is a keeper! What a creative idea. I must start picturing skirts upside down. Great job.
Thanks! It’s so easy to do! And if you change your mind and want a skirt again, you can just seam rip out the stitches. π
