Erin’s ReFashion Show Creation!
Besides being an amazing friend, Erin is also a phenomenally good sport! When I asked her to toss on this dress for her refashion for SHE Greenville, she didn’t even flinch!

This dress is incredibly 80s, BUT I loved that funky triangle cut-out thing across the chest. Also, being 100% cotton is a total plus for dealing with the SC heat!
To get this dress nice & modernized, I ripped out the shoulder pads and dyed it to a darker hue. Then, I took the whole thing in and raised the hem. For my final trick, I cut a bit of length off the sleeves and sewed them into cuffs.
I think Erin can wear this dress in public grimace-free now! 🙂

Okay! I can’t take it anymore! I want to share my refashions from my recent trip to Austin, TX (just got back today!), so be on the lookout for a BUNCH of posts tomorrow from my ReFashion Show, so I can get to sharing all my out-of-state adventures! 🙂
Cheers!

REALLY REALLY like this one! Can wear it with accessories in so many different colors – black, white, yellow, green (neon even!), turquoise, orange, red, pink (bright OR light). This could be a very versatile piece.

So cute! I love the triangles too! Keep inspiring me and I might have to send you pictures. I don’t have a before photo for my last refashioning. I sure wish I had taken one. I took a business suit, shortened the skirt and added in-seam pockets. I cut the top into strips and did an open weave piece that I added to the front/top of a $5 tee shirt, then added bias of the same shirt around the opening. I shortened the sleeves and the hem of the tee and did decorative stitching down the shoulder seam, new sleeve hems, and the new hem at the bottom of the shirt. I now have a kicky summer/fall skirt/tee combo that will last me a good long while. I don’t need management/office clothes and suits anymore, so I look forward to remaking another one of the suits.
Keep up the good work and here’s hoping others continue to follow the trend. Such a wonderful way to add a drop in the bucket of recycling.
