Day 201: DIY Shoulder Pad Dryer Sheets
Do you remember Day 160, when I made my own laundry detergent? It’s working great! Fella and I are completely happy with how clean and fresh our clothes are getting! 🙂 What follows is an extension of my newly found DIY laundry products obsession. A few months ago, a good pal of mine moved away. She didn’t want to deal with moving her cleaning supplies, so she kindly gave them all to me. There was just one thing that I…
Day 192: A kool koozie! :)
I can’t seem to get over Day 182! 🙂 I used up that scrap from the skirt yesterday, which left only two parts of the dress unused. When I first started refashioning, I threw out all those old shoulder pads. Now I know better! You can come up with all sorts of fun uses for those old pads! I haven’t done a shoulder pad refashion in a while, so here’s yet another way keep them out of the garbage bin. …
Day 180: A Broken Arm Bathing Buddy!
So…today I went to the hospital to get a metal plate removed from my arm. Several months ago, I was volunteering at the museum. Someone spilled a drink, and I managed to slip, fall, and land on my elbow, shattering it in several places. 🙁 Fortunately, I’m a fast healer, and was able to talk my awesome doctor into removing the metal plate and pins that have been holding my arm together earlier than expected! The surgery went well. The…
Day 173: Herbie the Door Mouse
Several months ago, I made this sweet set of mouse ears for my buddy, Herbie. He’s dressed as the door mouse from Alice in Wonderland! 🙂 When he dropped off the materials to make the ears, he left me with yards of grey felt…waaaaay more than I really needed. Fast forward to today, when my landlord did his annual walk-through of our house. He noticed that my front door was a little drafty. I knew EXACTLY what I was going…
Day 171: The Baxter Chair
This is a dingy once-white chair. This is how it got that way. My friends Phillip and David didn’t want to get rid of the chair any more than they wanted to get rid of their beloved Baxter, but after trying to wash those dingy spots away, what could they do? Fortunately, this chair is one of those IKEA numbas, so what we’re looking at is a stained cover. They gave it to me, hoping to end up with a…
Day 168: Scrap Bustin’ Pin Cushion
For today’s refashion, I grabbed a handful of scraps… …and made a sweet new pin cushion! I took one of my prettiest buttons from my huge button box, and used it to tuft the center (just like a pillow!). I think I’ll make a few more of these, and give them away as stocking stuffers! …Just another fun way to use up those scraps!
