    Day 161: DIY Laundry Detergent

By now you’ve probably figured out that I’m fairly friggin frugal.  🙂  I came to the decision to start making and remaking my own clothes when I walked by an expensive dress shop and thought, “Hey…I can do that!”  Since then, I’ve been looking at other things I think I pay too much for that I could probably make for myself. One of these things is Laundry Detergent.  Fella and I pay just under $10 for a bottle of Tide…

Day 148: A Star is Born

I love the day after Thanksgiving!  One of my favorite things about it (it ranks right up there with gnoshing on tasty leftovers all day) is decorating the Christmas tree!  🙂 Sadly, our tree was missing a little something.  I filled it with ornaments and lights, but the top was still bare.  :/ Time to get to work! I used the bottom scrap from Day 24 and a shoulder pad from Day 63. First I had Fella draw a star…

    Day 138: Pan Handle Holder

I can’t believe I used to throw out all those shoulder pads from my refashions!  I didn’t realize just how very useful they could be. You’ve seen these guys before (Remember Day 101?). I pinned the two pads together. Then I stitched them up like so: I trimmed off those raw edges, and turned the whole thing inside-out. Now I have a super-handy pot/pan handle cover for removing something tasty from the oven!  🙂 Are you wondering what’s in the…

    Day 90: Case Closed!

Lots of you guys have asked what I plan on doing with all these shoulder pads I’m accumulating.  As some of you know, most of them are going to end up as toys for local shelter kitties (you can see the prototype here). But guess what? I came up with another idea of what I can do with some of those pads!  🙂  If you’ve been reading this blog of mine for a while, you probably already know I have a…

    Day 61: Warm & Cozy

Yesterday’s Carowinds trip was awesome, fun, and exciting! 🙂 But today, I felt like I had been beaten up in an alleyway or something.  Being tossed around on roller coasters all day really caught up with me.  🙁 I reached for my trusty heating pad… …and crinkled my nose as how boring and clinical-looking it was. I decided to make a new, much more aesthetically pleasing cover for it. I grabbed an old (but very pretty) pillowcase out of my…
