Day 359: Scrap-Busting Dress
For today’s piece, we need to go back to Day 117 of this lil’ blog. 🙂 For those of you who were wondering what was going happen to the bottom part of this dress…wonder no more! 🙂 I needed something that would work as a cute coverup to wear erranding before I ventured over to a friend’s place for an afternoon swim! I laid my leftover dress scrap upside down, and placed one of my best-fitting dresses over it, right…
Day 356: Almost an Evening Dress
Wowza…Summer is officially in full effect here in the south! With temps in the mid-90’s and crazy humidity, today’s dress wasn’t going to work as-is! This dress really isn’t that bad…but those sleeves must go! I grabbed my seam ripper and got to work! Once the sleeves were out of the picture, I sewed down my new arm holes. Now my dress is ready for an evening of theatre… …well Almost an Evening, which is the name of the show…
Day 355: Go Cocks…er…Cox!
I love it when my alma mater is actually good at something! The University of South Carolina Gamecocks baseball team is an awesome example of this! For whatever the reason, I’m just not a fan of rooting for the underdog. If I’m going to attach my feelings and ego to a sports team, they’d better be winners dammit! 🙂 These back-to-back College World Series winners fill this void nicely. The only problem is, I have no Gamecocks gear to wear…

When I found this one at one of my fave $1 thrift stores, I was hooked! 🙂 The only problem with me and skirts, is that since I’ve learned how to sew, I’m done with wearing separates (for the most part)! For years I could never find dresses that fit me (no boobs, all butt). But now, rather than being a victim of whatever the proportions for an “average” size 2 (or 4 during…
Day 351: Egyptian Papyrus Skirt to Dress Refashion
Thrift Stores always seem to be teeming with loads and loads of awkward-lengthed skirts! Well lookie here…here’s one of them right now!
Day 348: Living a Lie Top
I don’t know what it was about the late 80’s/early 90’s that made clothing manufacturers believe that people couldn’t be trusted to handle their own layering. I really don’t understand the whole “double dress” look, folks. Why did anyone think this was okay???? Especially when the bottom layer is always fake??? Fortunately, there’s a fairly straightforward solution to this! This dress required a bit more snippage to deal with some ooglay pads as well! I took the outer dress layer,…
