Day 321: Here Comes the Rain Dress
The thing I really like about the completely blah and shapeless polyester dresses I find for $1 at thrift stores… …is what wonderful blank slates they are! You can really do just about anything with them! 🙂 I decided to go for a quick, but dramatic no-sew refashion for this one! First, I trimmed off that bottom hem to make my sash. Then, I folded the dress in half and made a big asymmetrical cut! Those sleeves needed a bit…

“Friendship is certainly the finest balm for the pangs of disappointed love.” – Jane Austen
Day 309: 3 Step Dress
Here’s a no-sew fix that will work really well with most button-up old lady dresses for this summer! 🙂 Step 1: Find an old lady dress in a print you really like that at least kind of fits you. Step 2: Tuck in the collar, and button up your dress as much as you can, but with the neckline under your arms. Step 3: Tie those arms in front of you to cinch the waist! Day 308: Flit & Flirt Dress

Obviously, this was not it…yet! 😉 First, I pulled the neck hole down under my arms and pinned it in the front with my favorite brooch in the world. 🙂 This left the rest of the top looking like this: I tucked the sleeves in to make fake pockets (Fockets!). 🙂 I’ll…
Day 292: Marigold Dress
Wowza! Today’s dress has a LOT going on, doesn’t it? 🙂 I actually really like the extremely busy pattern on this dress. 🙂 Unfortunately, It’s extremely old lady-ish and way too big! Not to fear! 🙂 First, I cut off that bottom patterned section, and put it aside. I took the dress in on the sides by about 2″. The back of the dress was still super-blousy though. :/ As I’m not going for the one humped camel look this…
Day 287: Hibiscus Dress
Okay, you guys! Pay attention, because what you’re about to see is my personal FAVORITE refashion to date! 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 It all began with this $1 skirt. You’ve seen a lot of skirt to dress refashes on this blog, but not quite like this. 🙂 I put the skirt on my dress form like so: Then I sewed a line where I pinned out my future sleeve! Then I sewed another line next to the first one!…
