Huzzah!  It’s SPRING!  Now ends the winter of my discontent!  This winter ended on a lousy note, so I’m happy to say goodbye to the blah, and hello to lots of good & positive things that have come into the works since then.  🙂 Let’s start with a new refashion for the new season, shall we?  I started with this $1 bit of thrift store fashion:     It also had a lining!     I like sea foam green.  I also really liked that nice waist detail and wanted to bring it out a bit. But first, I needed to get rid of those sleeves for a nice, super-warm…

When I Dip You Dip We Dip (Dye)!

This is a sad time of year for me, friends.  Fall is coming.  My days of frolicking blissfully in strapless dresses and sandals are coming to a close.  Layers.  :/  Coats.  :/  Scarves.  :/  Being cold all the time.  :/ Blerg.  :/ Today’s dress was just a little too big and a little too summery for the changing season.     The taking-in part wasn’t a big deal.         I also raised the hem just bit.       Well…that’s not very exciting, now is it? OH…BUT WAIT!  THERE’S MORE! I grabbed a bit of dye…     Then, I filled one side of the sink with…

    Thoroughly Modern Jilly

When I scored this Malibu Barbie-ish dress for $1, I knew I couldn’t leave it as-is.     Perhaps this would work as a swimsuit coverup or some such thing, but as many of you know…I hate pink.  Bleh! You can probably guess what happened next!       When my dress was dyed and dried, I used a clothespin to keep the top layers out of the way while I snipped the lower ones into strips.     This took a while…     As I snipped each strip, I tugged on them to make the fabric curl like you see above. When I was done, I ended up…

    The Dress that Almost Wasn’t

Hey Everybody!  I know, I’ve been absent for about a week now, but you know I’ll always come back to you, right?  I was just feeling like I hadn’t been spending enough time with my friends, so I took a little break to relax.  Everybody needs a breather every now and again, right? What follows is probably THE MOST frustrating refashion I’ve ever done, and a testament to my lunkwilled stubbornness. It all began with this nautical number right here:     Had I found this a few weeks ago, it would have probably ended up being my dress for the Yacht Rock soiree I attended a while back.  Sadly,…

    Lemon Sherbet Dress

Is this supposed to be a nightgown?     While I certainly do look quite angelic in this human doily, I can’t get over the ruffles or the whiteness of it.  I hate wearing white.  I’m far too clumsy for it, and I feel like it makes me look even paler than I already am! You can probably guess what I did next!     Here’s what my dress looked like as it soaked up a bit of dye in its bath:     Once my dress way dyed and dried, I chopped off that bottom ruffle.     Then, I lopped off some of the bottom hem, starting at…
