6 Ways to Repurpose Shoulder Pads

Q:  You do a LOT of refashions where you remove shoulder pads.  What do you do with them when you’re done?  Do you just throw them away? A:  Oh heck no!  Shoulder Pads are awesome (just not on your shoulders)! Here are a few things you can make out of ’em! Puppy Poo Bag Holder When I take Douglas for his walks, I want to be a good neighbor and clean up after the little guy.  I could either buy…

Day 206: A Perfectly Padded Pouch

Alright…so I’m more than 200 days in on this project, and despite my best efforts, I’m still plagued with a big drawer full of leftover shoulder pads!  This includes these guys from Day 178  and Day 180! If you check out Day 4,  , you’ll notice I’m wearing a really fetching set of blue glass beads.  These are the last thing my Grandmother gave me before she passed away.  They originally belonged to my Great-Grandmother, and for these reasons, I…

    Day 192: A kool koozie! :)

I can’t seem to get over Day 182!  🙂  I used up that scrap from the skirt yesterday, which left only two parts of the dress unused. When I first started refashioning, I threw out all those old shoulder pads.  Now I know better!  You can come up with all sorts of fun uses for those old pads!  I haven’t done a shoulder pad refashion in a while, so here’s yet another way keep them out of the garbage bin. …

Then, I stitched them up, using scraps to give them all tails and ears.  🙂…

    Day 14: A Royal Jacket/Cape

For tonight, I picked out a dress that looked like something my 3rd Grade teacher would have worn (Ms. C., you were not known for your sweet sense of style). I began with removing those frikkin’ shoulder pads.  I haven’t had to deal with any of those in a while, but they still give me the heebie jeebies! Next I chopped the dress into two easy pieces. Don’t worry about the skirt, I’m not about to toss it out!  It’s…

    Happy Valentine’s Day!!!

Happy Valentine’s Day everybody!  Whether you’re in a relationship with someone special or a swingin’ single, I hope yours was marvelous!  My V-day dress certainly wasn’t going to put anyone in the mood for fun and romance when I first put it on. Yech!  Those hideously malformed shoulder pads!  Those too-short sleeves!  That icky length!  Plus, it was about as boring as it could possibly be! Not to worry!  I have a plan!  First off, I removed the pads and…
