The 366 Day Refashion Project
In 2012, I refashioned one thrifted item of clothing and blogged about it every day. Read about all the highs and lows of taking on a crazy project that changed my life forever.
I love when I find pieces that are made of silk! 🙂 Unfortunately, this silk dress has been overwashed, so the texture is a bit off, and the weave is really tight. I decided to take advantage of this. 🙂 I put the dress on its side and gave it a funky new hem! Because the weave is so tight from the overwashing, I didn’t have to worry about it fraying, so I left the bottom edge raw. And that’s it! Now I have a fun & flowy top to wear for a Bad Movie Night with friends! 🙂 Cheers!
As you guys know by now, I’m in hardcore Get My New Abode Looking Nice Mode! 🙂 While unpacking, I uncovered these pillowcases I bought crazy madcakes on sale. I love how nice & soft these are, but as you can see, cream pillowcases on a mostly white duvet aren’t exactly exciting. :/ Life is too short for boring bedding, my friends! I reached for a box of dye… …and prepared a wee dye bath in a pitcher. I wadded up my pillowcases and shoved them in! I left the cases in their bath for an hour without touching them at all. Then I tossed them in my washing machine…
After an all-nighter spent getting my new digs cleaned up/set up, I was in no mood to deal with this blah blah BLAH frock! 🙁 Alas! Deal with it I must (It’s kinda the whole point of this blog, in case you haven’t noticed)! Not only was this dress realllly unattractive, it had another little problem! I have some interesting plans for this one, folks! First I trimmed off that bottom hem detail and put it aside. This dress was too big for me, so I got to work taking it in. Then, I took a bit more length from the bottom… …and gave my dress a new hem! Okay, so…
I agree wholeheartedly with this T-shirt! 🙂 Hip chicks most certainly do do wine. 🙂 However, this hip chick doesn’t do ill-fitting T-shirts! I could have just taken it in to make it more fitted, but I really didn’t feel like wearing a tee today. It’s skirt city for this one! 🙂 I snipped off the collar of the tee oh-so-carefully! Then I pinned the sides in a bit. I stitched each side down… …and cut off the excess fabric (including the sleeves). Now that blah tee is a cute & sexy skirt! Oh…and check out the back! 🙂 Cheers!
Holy Housedress, Batman! :/
